Upper reaches are nearer to a river’s source. This is also known as the headwater of the system. Here water flows in sharp mountain valleys and gorges. We see big boulders at the upper reaches of the river. As they move downstream, large stone breaks up and gets smaller.
There are some beautiful waterfalls on the upper reaches of the Rivers of Hout Bay.
Friends of the Rivers of Hout Bay – FORHB – is a Hout Bay, Cape Town, South African based NPO dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of the river system in this fragile ecological area.
