FORHB was formed in February 2015 after various concerned members of the Hout Bay Community saw the need to create a single active river focused body that will be able to access and pool resources and knowledge to reach an outcome of rehabilitation and conservation of the Hout Bay River system.

Equipped with knowledge as to what this system most needs, each individual who wishes to contribute to the well being of the river system automatically becomes a custodian and a friend. The more awareness each friend creates around the importance of this system the greater the chance we have of achieving our goal of having a clean, beautiful bio-diversely rich river system for the future of our children and our precious environment.

Any person (no matter what age or circumstance) who cares about the Hout Bay Rivers is a friend.
